In the desert outside Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, the once distant dream of building an entire city which runs off the suns energy is about to become a reality. In just a few short months, the first residents will be moving into Masdar City. Masdar, meaning "source" is being billed as the first zero-carbon, zero-waste city and will reportedly generate 90% of its energy from a solar farm located on the outskirts of the city.
